German photographer Gerhard Riebicke was mainly active during the 1920s
through the 1930s. He is considered the father of the Naturist Movement in
photography and inspired many artists.
Gerhard published at least two books: "Das Sportfoto. Der Fotorat, 29. Band"
in 1936 and "Arbeitsmdchen Singen und Tanzen" in 1944. "Arbeitsmdchen
Singen und Tanzen" translates to "Working Girls Singing and Dancing".
Although I have not reviewed these books, the titles reflect Riebickie's
general attitude regarding photography. His style conveyed beauty, health,
grace and power.
The first *monograph on Riebicke, "Nudes in the Photography of Gerhard
Riebicke, 1924-1935", was published in 2000 by the Bodo Niemann Gallery
in Berlin Germany. If you are a fan of naturist photography or just a fan of
nude photography as beauty, this is a great publication.
The model for image 008 is Ilka Dieball. She later married
Adolf Koch
who was considered the master of Freikrperkultur (naked culture) in Germany
during the 1920s.
*Monograph- A one-time published scholarly book or a treatise on
a single subject.
