Samuel Bernard Schaeffer was born in 1905. He was trained at the he Art
Guild and the New York Evening Industrial School of Art. He completed over
200 book jackets and bindings for 35 different publishers. He illustrated
three books: The Book of American Presidents, Lotus and Chrysanthemum and
The Book of American Presidents. He published two books on the nude the
first being "Morning Noon Night" (1937) and "Pose Please" (1936). Morning
Noon Night featured mostly female nudes that were engaged in household
activities. He took the mundane, put his stamp on it and made it beautiful.
