Luli Deste was born Luli Van Hohenberg in Vienna in 1908. Little is known
about the mysterious Austrian model. Luli was featured in four Hollywood

flourish. She died in New York City on Jul. 07, 1951 at a relatively young
age.
The photographer A.L. (Whitey) Schafer was a contemporary of Hurrell and one
of Hollywood's great glamor photographers. His dramatic and lustrous use of
light landed him a job at Columbia Studios from the mid 1930s through the
early 1940s where he was able to fine tune his craft on some of the greatest
beauties of all time. In 1942 he became Director of Still Photography at
Parmount. He wrote a book entitled "Portraiture Simplified" which was
published by in 1941 by Ziff-Davis. Most of the photographs in this
collection carry his stamp and are one-of-a-kind.
